The Ottawa Gatineau Printmakers’ Connective is pleased to present an exhibition at The Nepean Creative Arts Centre (39 Stafford Road, Bells Corners) from September 6th to November 19th, entitled “Murray Dineen and Friends, and the Earth”.
The show is devoted to the topic of climate change and the environment in the Anthropocene. For some fifty years, printmakers have been finding new environmentally friendly printmaking. While traditionalsubstances are still in use, less toxic alternatives have become readily available and affordable. The prints in this show use these new alternatives and/or address some aspect of climate change or our changing environment. Although the show is not linked formally to the National Gallery’s upcoming exhibition, Anthropocene, similar concerns have motivated the artists of the Connective.
The exhibition features twenty-two original fine art prints by some of the Connective’s 30-plus members: guest curator, Murray Dineen, Beth Shepherd, Rod Restivo, Roger Sutcliffe, Tina Petrovicz, Susan Cartwright, Louise Butler, Valerie Bridgeman, Denise Lachance, and Carol Howard Donati, as well as a woodcut print by the late Leonard Gerbrandt.
The vernissage will be on Sept. 28, 5-9PM.
This coincides with the Connective’s Open House for Culture Days, Sept 28-29, 2018.
