COLLOGRAPH: A relief print made from objects and textures glued to a surface
A workshop on collography was held at the Ottawa School of Art over the November 9-10 2013 weekend. Visiting Cuban artist, Ernesto BLANCO, led the workshop which was attended by four members of the Connective/Collectif: Manon Boulet, Louise Butler, Rod Restivo, and Beth Shepherd.
Beth had her camera with her to record the various steps and methods involved and created a brief visual explanation. It was screened at the November meeting and members agreed it was interesting and helpful in familiarizing us with the technique. So we decided to share this information, Click on the following link Collagraph Workshop to reach the presentation. Enjoy!
Members of the Ottawa-Gatineau Printmakers Connective gathered again at the Ottawa School of Art (OSA) this year for the traditional Chinese New Year print exchange. The Year of the Snake attracted many of our members and, at the organizing gallery in Toronto, there were prints from across the country and from abroad.
Thanks to Rob Hinchley and Deidre Hierlihy who collected the snake prints for exchange and established the list of members eligible to share. A special ‘thank you’ to Ute Gerbrandt who brought the hat essential for the drawing; this was in salute to the late Leonard Gerbrandt, who contributed to the founding of our group.”
We all had a pleasant evening with good food, great conversation and exceptional prints to exchange.
This was the third year that the Connective/Collectif has shared in the Proof Gallery celebration of the Chinese New Year. We look forward to even more members to participate in next year’s exchange – marking the Year of the Horse.
